December's Guitar of the Month Winner!
We’re pleased to announce that Jeremy K. is the latest winner of our Guitar of the Month contest! This incredible Bigfoot themed bass, dubbed The Axe Kicker, is built using Combine's 6-String Bass Guitar Kit. Here is a snippet of his story:
"From deep in the Hills of the Lost Coast’s Giant Redwood Forests, a man name Kurtz came up with a plan.
To build a Beastly Bass in honor of the hairy man.
The Axe Kicker….🦶🏽
I scoured the internet for equipment to build my dream bass. That’s how I found Combine and the amazing selection of kits they offer.
I chose the 6 string bass because I wanted a different sound to go with a different style music produced by my buddy SeedSquatch. (👈🏼YouTube)
I matched the body and the pic guard to the wood of the neck at a local exotic wood business. Brought it back to my house and drew up the basic outline of the footprint. I measured out the body that came with the kit so my placement was correct for the pickups and the neck. Four coats of clear poly and then the back of the neck got buffed with 1000 grit sand paper to make it slicker than grease for easy sliding.
With the contour of the foot having a human like arch it sits on your hip or on your leg perfectly and only weighs 3oz more than the average 6string base.
