November's Guitar of the Month Winner!

We’re pleased to announce that Elijah G. is the latest winner of our Guitar of the Month contest!

Curious about his process? Here is his story:

"This was my first kit. I made a few mistakes in the process but I'm really happy with how it came out.

I had a few issues finishing and had to re do it several times. I was worried the veneer would be too thin but it had no issues. My first coating was with wipe on poly, which didn't cure right in the cold and stayed sticky. I sanded it all off and re did it with tru oil sealer and tru oil, which came out much better.

The neck had some sharp fret ends which were easy to remove. I did some fretboard polishing so it's super smooth. I did some basic fret leveling tests and the frets seemed level enough that I didn't want to risk messing with it, as I was worried fret leveling multiscale would be harder and if I messed up could ruin the guitar.

A thing I should have done earlier, is the pickup cavities were a bit tight so the pickups wouldn’t seat well. I ended up dremeling them out a bit, but after I had already coated. Luckily I didn’t mess the coating up and everything looks fine, I just had to add a bit of dye into the cavity slots and good as new.

I still need to work on my setup skills but it plays so much better than I ever expected. I’m blown away by how well it came out and plan to do another when the headless are back in stock." - Elijah G.
