March's Guitar of the Month Winner!
We’re pleased to announce that Nathan H. is the latest winner of our Guitar of the Month contest! This 6 string is built using Combine's Multiscale TCS DIY Kit. Here is his story:
"I've always been interested in building my own guitar, and lately I've been watching videos about multiscale instruments. When I searched for a multiscale Tele body, I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone is actually selling DIY kits. I would finally be able to try my hand at making a guitar to my vision, and ultimately end up with something really well built and unique for a great price. I live in a small apartment and haven't done any woodworking since highschool, but I was willing to give it my best shot.
With minimal trips to some stores, I was able to get a result I'm very pleased with. Being constrained on space and ventilation, I went with water based stain, sanding sealer, and gloss polycrylic that were all wipe-on products. I bolted the neck to the body, and hung it from my pull-up bar in the bathroom with some shoestrings through the tuning-peg holes, and applied the products that way. The kit was very easy to assemble fully afterwards, and my girlfriend only had to hear minimal frustrations while I put it together. If I can do it, I believe anyone can." - Nathan M.
